JOB DESCRIPTION The Mammography Technologist performs digital mammography and general radiographic procedures to assist in the diagnosis of disease or injury. Must have good knowledge and understanding of the mammography QC requirements to meet the MQSA and State of Nevada regulations. Must be able to work independently without supervision, have excellent problem solving skills. Performs all duties in accordance with NVCI’s mission, vision and values of Discovery, Excellence, Collaboration, Compassion, Integrity, and Stewardship. JOB REQUIREMENTS Requires an Associate’s degree in Radiologic Science or a related field. Must have knowledge of basic radiologic methods and techniques normally acquired through completion of twenty-four month approved (ARRT) radiologic technology training program and through required MQSA training necessary to obtain state certification. A minimum of three to five years experience in mammography. Requires a working knowledge of the equipment QC requirements and documentation required for MQSA and State regulations. Must ensure equipment is functioning properly and take appropriate action if necessary. Interpersonal skills are necessary in order to effectively interact with physicians, other facility staff, patients and families when providing instructions or responding to question or exchanging patient-related information. Analytical skills are also necessary in order to conduct mammography exams and review images for accuracy and quality, verify patient information, and perform general radiographic exams while limiting radiation exposure. Requires the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when conducting or assisting with mammographic or radiologic procedures. Must also complete necessary medical records information to include consents, billing charges, and monitor supply levels. Must have 8 CEU hours of approved digital mammography training. Must meet continuing experience and continuing education required by MQSA. Requires a State of Nevada Mammography License. A current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Card (CPR) or Basic Life Saver (BLS) Card is also required. Must have certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT (R) (M)).
