Membership Privileges
Every month members will receive the NCBC newsletter,
Breast Center Bulletin. Newsletters contain
articles highlighting issues involved in managing a breast center, spotlight articles on
member breast centers and their activities, psychosocial aspects of breast health care,
private-sector breast health business articles and updates on breast health care
legislation. Each member is encouraged to contribute an article about an area of
expertise or about his/her breast health facility and its programs. The NCBC has a staff
writer to help prepare articles.
Another service to
members is NCBC's website. Each member is listed on this site and may submit a
description of the practice and its services. If a member already has a website, a link to the site is provided free of charge.
We hope this will serve as a marketing tool for our
members. Also on this site members have a secure message exchange board.
Membership entitles access to the website's E-mail Exchange Service. Upon joining or renewing membership, each member is
supplied a user name and membership number that allow members access to the
E-mail Exchange page. Members may leave questions about any aspect of
patient care, programming, starting or expanding a breast center, support group issues,
patient resources and much more. Members may even want to post job openings
- or list information about themselves if they are available for a new
position. Other members will leave responses to questions, and professional
networking begins.
The most important
communication and networking opportunity is the Annual National
Interdisciplinary Breast Conference. Each spring
NCBC coordinates an annual meeting for members and their guests. Members attend
at a reduced rate. Attendees meet
and exchange information with other breast care professionals from around the country
and the world and
form new relationships to network throughout the remainder of the year.
Continuing education credits are offered for RTs, RNs and physicians. The focus of each
conference varies as the issues facing breast health professionals change.

Where do you fit in NCBC?
That really depends on you! If you are a
dedicated professional working in the breast health care arena, you will have an
opportunity to meet colleagues from around the nation for networking purposes in problem
resolution areas or patient care. Many of your colleagues are already members.
Presently, NCBC has among its members individuals that represent
the medical fields of radiology, surgery, oncology, OB/GYN and pathology. The clinical
fields are represented by members in all levels of counseling, oncology and clinical
nursing as well as by nurse practitioners. Radiologic technology is represented in
the membership by radiologists specializing in breast imaging. Administrators and managers
of breast centers are also included in the membership. These individuals represent centers
that are freestanding, community hospital based and university hospital based.
Individuals do not have to be affiliated with a breast center to join. The NCBC has
members who work at women's centers, wellness centers, other non-profit organizations or
private practice. Breast health consultants, authors and representatives from the
commercial sector, who deliver equipment and supplies to providers, round out the NCBC
membership.
Our organization is in the process of certifying and typing
breast centers to prepare centers in meeting the demands of delivering
excellence in patient care

These two membership classifications were created to inform NCBC
members of the various private sector products and services available to them to improve
patient care. The corporate membership benefits were designed to provide a marketing
mechanism for corporate members to inform breast center members around the country about
