Breast Cancer Survivors to Benefit from New Consortium Partnership

The Breast Cancer Wellness Magazine and the National Consortium of Breast Centers (NCBC) have partnered to provide the latest evidence-based education and advocacy for breast cancer patients and survivors.

The purpose of the newly formed partnership is to provide better communications about options and patient care and to help alleviate the confusion and fear by having easier access to fundamental educational programs and networking opportunities for breast cancer survivors, always with a focus on improved patient outcomes.

“Knowing how to navigate forward after diagnosis can be overwhelming and complicated and staying informed about the best medical and healing practices still isn't easy in today's complex world of information,” says Beverly Vote, 26 year breast cancer survivor and publisher of the Breast Cancer Wellness Magazine.

Vote adds that the breast cancer journey is not a 'one size fits all' experience: “I will never forget how alone, overwhelmed and afraid I felt when diagnosed with breast cancer. I was only 38 and didn't know where to turn or who or what to trust. Having trusted resources at my fingertips would have been very beneficial and is the reason the Breast Cancer Wellness Magazine was founded 14 years ago. What is exciting about the alliance with NCBC is the expanded ability for breast cancer survivors to be apprised much sooner about treatment options, latest technologies and medical advancements. NCBC helps to create an environment in which providers of every discipline, mental health, dietary, general wellness, work together for ideal, customized care for each patient, aligning services from start to finish.

The National Consortium of Breast Cancers is the nation's premier interdisciplinary organization committed to the development, maintenance, advancement and improvement of the highest quality patient-focused Breast Centers in the world.

Founded by Barbara Rabinowitz in 1986 and currently led by NCBC's President Kristie Bobolis, MD from Sutter Roseville Medical Center, Roseville, CA, the consortium works with professionals, businesses, breast cancer communities, and breast cancer survivors to ensure consistent, high-quality care to every person affected with this disease. Their Breast Patient Navigator Certification Program is one of many ways they continue to improve quality of patient and recovery care year after year.

“It is my honor to join forces with the Breast Cancer Wellness Magazine to provide vital information designed to help breast cancer patients and survivors receive the best information available. Together, we will work to educate, empower and advocate for improved survival outcomes. With this new partnership, NCBC will now stand next to the survivors across the country and share our years of experience and knowledge with the breast care community,” says Kimberly Bolin, BS, RT (R)(M), ARRT, ARDMS, Executive Director of the National Consortium of Breast Centers.
